These translations have not been done by me. Generous members of the community have dedicated their time and effort to translating these chapters; as such, these translations are amateur and there may be mistakes. However, the best attempt at accuracy was made to ensure comprehensibility. The translator of the chapter can be identified by their name next to the chapter number. Please enjoy.

== CHAPTER ONE (unfinished)== (Pixel and Aristoteles) Here's my translation, based on what Pixel had already done. I still need to fix some (or most) of the sentences, but I think the story is much more clear now.
暗闇の中にティーダはいた。膝を抱えて、とろとろとしていると、突然頭の芯に映像が結ばれた。目玉が捕らえたものか、もとより記憶の中にあった光景なのか判然としない。
Tidus was surrounded by darkness. He held his knees as he drifted off. Suddenly, an image appeared at the back of his mind. What caught his eye wasn’t clear. From the start, he was uncertain whether it was a scene from his memory.
広い背中に長い髪を垂らした男と、しなだれかかる細い女が見えだ。今はもういない、彼の両親だ。父親はある日姿を消し、母親は寂しさのあまり死んだ。自分が母親の慰めにはならないと知って深く傷ついた日の胸の痛みが蘇った。
A man with long hair hanging down his broad back, snuggling with a beautiful, slender woman. They were his parents, now already gone. One day his father disappeared, and his mother died of overwhelming with loneliness. The pain he felt in his heart that day, knowing that he couldn't console his mother, was revived.
次の瞬間、ティーダは大観衆の中にいた。嬌声に得意気な笑顔で応える。心の傷はどうやって癒やしたのだろう。不思議に思ったが居心地のよさに身を委ねていろうちに、疑問はどこかに溶けてしまった。
The next moment, Tidus was in a huge crowd. He responded to the lovely voices with a proud smile. How could he heal the emotional scars? It seemed to be able to heal the emotional scars. He thought it was strange, but as he surrendered his body to the comfort, that doubt melted away.
巨大な怪物が彼の街、ザナルカンドを襲った。怯えて逃げ惑う自分がおかしかった。

Before long, Tidus was swimming in the sea of Spira, and arrived on land. He was bewildered at how completely different this world was to home. The kindness of the people, the gentle touch, he regained his smile somehow. He made friends, and decided to journey with them. He brandished a sword, and fought against fiends.
気づくと、恋をしていた。気持ちを確かめ合った日に、別れが決まっていたような恋だった。運命とは認めたくなかったので抵抗したが、敵わなかった。
Then he realised, he was in love. On the day that they confirmed their feelings for eachother, they realised it was a love that could never be. He resisted, because he didn't want to accept their fate, it was unbearable.
雲海が見えた。スピラを去った日の記憶だ。
I saw a sea of clouds. It’s a memory of the day I left Spira.
自分の背中があった。飛空艇の甲板を、空元気を振りまいて走り、飛んだ。
He was on his back. The deck of the airship, I summed up the courage, ran, and leapt.
胸が千切れそうに痛んだ。
My heart ached like it had been torn out.

その響きが、頭を揺さぶった。
That sound, I shook my head.

視界が明瞭になった。滲んでいた闇と自分の境界が明瞭になった。闇をまとった混沌から切り離された実感があった。

気合いを入れて闇を蹴ると、身体がユウナの世界に少し近づいた。

やがて頭上に迫る境界を感じた。"こっち"と"あっち"の境界。きらびやかな世界の象徴だろうか、誘うように明滅する光の壁が見えた。上へ上へ。泳ぎは何よりも得意だ。
He felt the boundary approaching overhead. The boundary between "here" and "there". He could see a flickering wall of light, it was a symbol of the gorgeous world. Up to the top. He was swimming more triumphantly than ever.

突き破った壁の先にあったのは青と白の世界だった。鼻から肺へ抜けていく空気の濃厚な質感にたじろぐ。嗅覚がもたらす刺激など、すっかり忘れていたのだ。
Breaking through the wall, it was a world of blue and white. He winced as he felt the thick air passing through his nose to his lungs. He had completely forgotten the excitement brought by his sense of smell.
目の前に広がるのは、大海原。その広大無辺を思った時、足の下で、何か巨大なものがうごめく気配を感じた。ついさっきまで交わっていた、生きているような闇。気を抜くと引き戻されてしまいそうだ。
Spread out in front of him was the ocean. As he thought about the vastness, he felt something huge wriggling under his feet. The darkness was alive. It hadn't crossed until just then. If he wasn't careful, he could be pulled back.
(そうはいくか。俺は帰ってきたんだ)

振り返ると、ビサイド島があった。初めて見た時と変わらない、中央が小山のよぅに盛り上がった、緑の三角。縁取りの砂浜が波に洗われている。
As he looked around, there was Besaid Island. Just like when he saw it for the first time, at the centre was a hill that rose up, like a green triangle. Surrounded by a sandy beach, washed by waves.
無人の海岸に指笛を吹いた。
He whistled with his fingers toward the empty beach.
なんの返事もなかったが、心が安らいだ。五感から流れ込む情報は、すべて現実なのだ。たとえ返事がなくても、確実に自分が体験し、感じていることが心地よかった。
There was no answer, but his heart felt at ease. The information gathered from all five senses was entirely real. Even if there was no reply, from his experience, it was a feeling of comfort.
遠浅の海を、浜に向かって泳いだ。最初に会うのは誰だろう。
He swam in the shallows, facing toward the beach. Who would be first he saw.

その時、空に轟音が響いた。
Just then, a deafening roar filled the sky.
空を、紫を基調にした派手なペイントの飛空艇が迫ってくる。思わず逃げた。すると艇は頭上で旋回しつつ、底部のハツチを開いた。
A brightly painted, purple airship approached from the sky. He unintentionally ran away. As the airship circled overhead, the hatch at the bottom opened.
待ちかねたように中からユウナが飛び出した。
Yuna couldn't wait any longer, and leapt out from the inside.
ハッチを滑り台のように使って、そのまま勢いよく海面に飛び降制る。初めて見る、快活な服装が意外だった。知っているユウナとは違う、と、ほんの一瞬、思った。だが、駆けてくる彼女の眼中には自分しかいないと知った喜びが、小さな違和感を消し去った。この瞬間、彼女を独占しているという喜びは、ティーダの心の、満たされたことのない部分にまで届い踵。
She used the hatch like a slide, and quickly leapt to the surface of the water. Her cheerful attire was a surprise. It was the first time he saw it. For just a moment, he thought that she was different from the Yuna he knew. But, as she ran, the joy in her eyes that he knew erased that niggling feeling. That moment, the joy overtook Tidus' heart, ........

"...Are you real?"
ためらったあと、ユウナは覚悟を決めたように、訊いた。
After hesitating, Yuna prepared herself, and asked.
「たぶん」
"I think so."
答えは、彼女に出して欲しかった。ゆっくりと身体を離したユウナが、正解を探している。いや、間違いを探しているのだろうか。
I wanted to give her an answer. Yuna slowly separated from my body, and looked for the right answer. Well, she was probably looking for something wrong.
「どうスか?」
"Do I pass?"
「うん----おかえり」
"Uh huh... You're back."
ホッとした。
I was relieved.
「ただいま」
"I am back."
言いながら、ユウナを抱き寄せる。いや、しがみついた。ユウナに否定されたら、自分はどうなっていたのだろうという思いが、一瞬よぎったのだ。
As I said that, I drew closer and hugged Yuna. Well, she clung to me. If Yuna had rejected me, I don’t know how I would have turned out – I was really worried for a second.
「ただいま」
"I'm home."
耳元で何度も繰り返すと、やがてユウナの手が腰に回り、彼女は、おかえりなさい、と応えた。
I repeated it a few times in her ear. Before long, Yuna's hand was around my waist, and she responded with “Welcome home”.
「おーい!」 と、遠い声がした。「どっか他でやれ!」
"Hey!" It was a distant voice "Get a room, you two!"

見ると、狭い入り江は人でいっぱいだった。ワッカ、ルールー、そして大勢の村人たち。
When I looked, the small cove was full of people. Wakka, Lulu, and many of the villagers.
「邪魔するなっつーの」
“Who asked you to watch, Wakka!?”
ティーダはユウナの手を取り、ワッカたちの方へ走り出した。たった今から、新しい、しかも、楽しい部分だけを引き継いだ人生が始まるのだ。そう思うと心が弾んゼ。
Tidus took Yuna's hand and started running toward Wakka. From right now, I can enjoy only the fun things for my whole life. Thinking that excites me!
「ていうかさ、なんか、変わったよな」
"You know, you've changed."
「そりゃあいろいろありましたから」
"Well, you've missed a few things."
勿体ぶった答えだ。だが、彼女の物語がどんな内容であっても、今は笑顔で手をつなぎ、走ることができるような結末なのだ。
The answer is pretentious. But, whatever the contents of her story, now I feel I can smile, take her hand and run with her to the end.
「聞きたい!」
"I wanna hear everything!"
村人たちが待ちかまえていたのは、しばらく村を留守にしていたユウナだった。もちろん、テーダもごく一部の顔見知りからは歓迎された。ダット、レッティ、ボッツ、ジャッシュ、キッパ----懐かしのビサイド・オーラカの面々だ。
The people of the village had been waiting for Yuna, who had been away from the village for a while. Of course, Tidus was greeted by the few people he was familiar to. Datto, Letty, Botta, Jassu, Keepa... All of the good old Besaid Aurochs.
ひととおり再会の喜びを分かち合った頃、ワッカが腕の中の赤ん坊を得意気に差し出した。
As we shared the joy of the reunion, Wakka proudly held out a baby in his arms.
「おれの子だ。イナミ。可愛いだろ」
"This is my child. Inami. Cute, ya?"
「うん! って、え? 誰が産んだんだよ」
"Yeah! Hey, what? Who gave birth?”
「わたしだけど」
"I did."
挑むような声が背後から答えた。振り返るとまず豊かな胸が目に入った。ルールーだ。
A defiant voice answered from behind. When I looked back, the first thing that caught my eye was a full bosom. It was Lulu.
「やっぱり、美人だよな」
"Makes sense, he is beautiful."
ふん、とルールーは鼻で笑い、赤ん坊をワッカから奪い取った。
Lulu laughed slightly, and took the baby from Wakka.
潮風に当てるなって言ってるでしょ?」
“Don’t want him exposed to sea air, huh?”
「島の子だ。どうせ----」
"He’s an islander. Anyway..."
「潮始めまでは待つって言ったじゃない」
Lulu: “I can’t say I’m looking forward to the tide starting.”
「だってよぉ----」
"Oh boy..."
まあまあ、とティーダは笑いながら割って入った。
Now now, Tidus laughed as he butted in.
「とにかく、おめでとう。てかさあ、結局そういうこと? やっぱりくっついた? 俺が思ったとおり!」
"Anyway, congrats. .......You finally got together? I knew it!"
「そうね。あまりにもありがちで、時々嫌になるわね」
"Yup. Honestly ……it gets difficult sometimes
「おいおい!」
"Hey hey!
「それで?」 ルールーはワッカを無視してティーダに訊いた。 「しばらくここにいるわけ?」
"So?"Lulu asked Tidus, ignoring Wakka. "Will you be here for a while?”
「----できれば、そうしたい」
"…I'd like to, if I can."
少し不安になった。
He became a little uneasy.
「ああ、誤解しないで。もちろん、歓迎するけど----」
"Oh, don't get me wrong. Of course, you are welcome..."
ルールーは周囲を見まわした。人々が動き始めていた。
Lulu looked around. People had started to move along.
「とりあえず、村へ」
"Let's go to the village for now."
赤ん坊のあご元を布で覆って隠すと、ルールーは村への一団に加わった。彼女にとって最優先なのは我が子だ。当然だ、と納得しながらも、ティーダは一抹の寂しさを感じていた。
Wrapping the baby up in the blanket, covering his chin, Lulu joined the people heading to the village. Naturally, her child was her top priority. Even though he understood it, Tidus felt a tinge of loneliness.
「おーし、行こうぜ」
"Yo, let's go.”
ワッカが明るくティーダの肩を叩いた。
Wakka patted Tidus on the shoulder familiarly.
村への道中、オーラカたちが入り替わり立ち替わりでティーダに話しかけてきた。
On the way to the village, the Aurochs talked to Tidus about being a substitute.
おかげで、不在の問にチームに起こった出来事はずっと一緒だったように詳しくなった。グットやキッパの上達具合の、自慢めいた話でさえ我が事のように喜ばしく、新人たちがチームに参加するためにビサイド島に移り住んだ話は感動的でさえあった。きっかけは、ティーダが参加した、あのトーナメントだったらしい。
What happened to the team during their time together, was thanks to him. Gotto and Keepa had improved, which made him proud. New people had even moved to Besaid Island to join the team, because they were so impressed. It seemed it was the tournament that Tidus participated in that started it.
半時間ほどで村に着いた。
They arrived at the village in around half an hour.
「今日は夕方から宴会になるはず。主催は長老たちね。手伝って、顔を売っておきなさい。いい印象をね。もし休みたかったら、あの天幕を使って」
"We should have a party this evening. The elders will organise it. You'll help, of course. Win them over. Make a good impression. If you want to take a rest, you can use that tent."
ルールーは村の中で一番大きな天幕を指さした。討伐隊の宿舎だ。
Lulu pointed to the largest tent in the village. It was the lodgings that belonged to the crusaders.
「討伐隊の連中はどうしてる?」
"What are the crusaders up to?
「好きに生きてるわ。そういう時代だもの。それから、ユウナの部屋は寺院の----前と同じところ」
"They do whatever they want. It's that kind of era. Then, Yuna's room in the temple... The same place as before."
「ひゅー!」
"Huh!?"
宴会用らしい薪を運びながらワッカが冷やかした。ティーダは頬がかっと赤くなるのを感じた。
Wakka teased him as he carried the firewood for the party. Tidus felt his cheeks turning red.
「何それ」 ルールーは冷たく吐き捨てた。 「行くなってことよ。誤解を招くような行動も慎んで。少なくとも、ユウナがあんたを長老たちに紹介するまではダメね。それに、紹介に関係なく、みんながどう思うかは、あんたの言動次第。寺院が機能しなくなってからユウナはご隠居たちの、心の拠り所なんだから。これ、忘れないで。ユウナ自身でさえ、自由に生きられないの」
"Wait." Lulu spat out coldly. "Don’t go there. Refrain from doing anything wrong. At least until Yuna introduces you to their elders. Also, regardless of the introduction, what everyone thinks of you depends on your conduct. After Yuna retired, After the temple lost its function Yuna has been the support of the retired [elders?] Don't forget that. Even Yuna herself can't live freely."
ルールーは肩をすくめた。腕の中で赤ん坊がじたばたと動く。
Lulu shrugged. The baby wriggled around in her arms.
「----ユウナは、幸せじゃないのか?」
"...Yuna isn't happy?"
「さあ。本人に聞きなさいよ」
"Don’t know. Ask Yuna”
「そういう話、ユウナは誤魔化すからなあ」
"You know, because that story doesn’t represent Yuna”
ティーダが言うと、ルールーは感心したような顔をした。
As Tidus said it, Lulu had an expression like she was impressed.
「わたしの見たところ、半々って感じね。こういう状況にした責任は感じる、でも、村にいると息が詰まる。だからリュックたちとあちこち飛び回っていた」
“As far as I see it, 50/50. She felt responsible for what happened, but she was suffocating in this village. So she flew around all over with Rikku."
「何してたんだ?」
"She did what?"
「それこそ、本人から聞いて。とにかくね、ユウナを困らせるようなことはしないで」
"Sure, ask her for yourself. Anyway, don’t embarrass Yuna."
