Also remember that FFX-2 started much in the same fashion, with the additional ending in the International game. Square Enix had said than too that there were no plans for a sequel but fan response was so overwhelming that they pursued it. The reason why FFX was so approachable versus doing a sequel to other games like VII, VIII, or IX was because the world was already built and all they had to do was reincorporate the characters (this was there stated reason). This in mind one has to conclude that releasing the game in HD is setting the stage for a another sequel on another platform.

Also, I recall hearing that just a week after the release of X-2, that SE wanted to do an X-3 as well. Originally, there were going to be two games. X-2 displayed Yuna's POV of the events after X, and X-3 would do the same only with Rikku instead. They haven't said a word about it since. Maybe because of all the negative attention X-2 got in the West. (Though it was really well received in Japan. Perhaps moreso than X.)

There are no clear points as to if Square will keep their word or not. They're known for having a track record of producing sequels which they previously had no desire for. However, the Eternal Calm prologue reception was positive. (at least in Japan) However, not even the Japanese fans like the contents of the novella. Maybe the same goes for Will. So there's still the possibility of not being one.

Maybe they'll display X-3 on the big screen for X's 15th anniversary, much like VII with Advent Children. For now, all we can do is the same for the novella: wait.

As for the Ultimate FFX/X-2 forum, I'll all for that. We could dedicate our activities to now creating a enormously helpful symposium of information about both games, and growing our memberanks for old and new players alike, especially when the HD Remaster comes out.
And, like CoL said, a general hangout to discuss and question about the game we all love very much in a comfortable atmosphere with likeminded, fun people.

Who likes that idea?

Exactly.

We could get someone to extract raw texture files for further examination upon them, such as hard-to-read Yevon/Spiran exempts and little details like that. (Believe it or not, even the NPCs have clever little details on them. There's a video floating around on Youtube showcasing this with the FFX Model Viewer) Also, I recall those two radar screens in Tidus' house when you go there in his dream sequence. They interest me for some reason. Too bad I can't really read them.

Also, fanart competitions. We could design dresspheres, and show them to everybody on the forum. Best. Idea. Ever! I get giddy just thinking about it. Also, the Ultimania had a brief timeline of the FFX universe dating back to approx. 3000 years ago. (something to do with the discovery of machina or something)

Internal has a good point, though. Why would they go through the trouble of getting the original voice cast back for something so trivial? They managed to get back the English voice cast, too. And though I still have a bit of a grudge against the audio drama, (Chuami's remarks against Lulu are so horribly hilarious. I see they kept the original charm of FFX's dialogue) I really want to hear how James Arnold Taylor handles Tidus' character in this. He did a great job in Dissidia and especially 012. I imagine he's only gotten better.

153
Or 'Final Fantasy X: -insert witty/deep title with the word 'dream' here-'

But yeah, Lightning Returns technically wasn't XIII-3. It was just kinda to set things right after XIII-2's bombshell ending, while bringing everyone back to life for some reason. It was also a pretty short game compared to the last two if you leave out the sidequests and such. Who's to say that this not-likely X-3 won't go along the same road?

I still stand by my idea of a FFX spinoff title taking place in the Farplane. (Pfft, Braska's pilgrimage? Nah.) Then you could explain the advantages and disadvantages of being dead in Spira. Might as well seeing as how poor Tidus is barely human anymore.

154
Come on guys, don't be so pessimistic about the forum's future.

We could still turn this into the ultimate FFX/X-2 speculation forum, complete with translated Ultimanias, translations of the Yevon/Spiran/Al Bhed scripts in the game, long lost concept art, (I still have those dresspheres to translate :/) raw textures from the game and just a fun and relaxed hangout for us avid FFX fans. Heck, maybe we could attract the attention of some of the English voice actors. (Haha, I wish.)

As for the 'not X-3' board... we still gotta translate that novel to get more information out of it. Or maybe the part where Yuna escapes the island is the end of the novel. Who knows.

Which begs the question, why couldn't they just make the audio drama into a happy lighthearted epilogue for our characters instead of a HUGE series of plot holes that will probably never be answered? Maybe they made the drama with the former intention of testing the waters for an X-3, but then jumped backwards when they found out that it was ridden with angry sharks.

I wonder if they'll remove the drama in the English release... probably not.

155
What!? Source, please.

I guess all the negative backlash just made them revoke their decision to make one... which is kinda sad.

But hey, the audio drama and novella can be seen as non-canon if one wishes, so everything's okay! :D

(assuming the source is legit)

However, the whole 'Beast Core' thing is pretty neat in my opinion, despite the weird name. Of course, it could just be used by fanfiction writers as an excuse to bring back Dream Zanarkand for their ultimate TidusxYuna fluff. But I'm seeing some potential in a story there. The 'sex method' is still kind of controversial, but yeah, still some potential. Those redesigns of Tidus and Yuna could be either fanservice or their 'real' looks in the future. Or Nomura just got bored. I have no idea why they threw in the whole romance drama bit. Maybe Square Enix for some reason, despite the critical acclaim the couple has, doesn't really want Tidus and Yuna together. :(

Also Tidus' near impossible nature, Farplane troubles, long lost daughters, all fanfiction material. Hey, maybe Nojima was being smart after all! We have to write our own story surrounding these events. Kazu, you sneaky son of a shoopuf.

If you're right, looks like I've been getting all worked up over nothing. But for everybody else, I guess they all have a right to be angry. Just drop another ambiguous 'ending' with tons of questions raised and none answered.

However, if the source's fake, I'll regret ever posting this.

156
surely you jest

I'm not attacking your opinion, but don't you think comparing TidusxYuna to Twilight and calling it ugly is a bit harsh?

If you're taking the novella/audio drama into light then sure, it's WAY worse. But in X/X-2 if you think about it, their relationship had a lot of depth and just... feel-goodness. Until the second half of the game. Then it gets pretty tragic and depressing.

Apart from this Will/2.5 hurricane, I don't see any sort of similarity between a man preventing a woman from sacrificing herself by ironically sacrificing himself, and a creepy sparkly vampire fighting a werewolf over an over-obsessive psychopath, and turning her into a vampire so they can make hideous vampire babies that are subjected to the very fortunate werewolf.

FFX-2 General / Fiend Tales
« on: February 01, 2014, 11:39:15 am »
In the International + Last Mission version of X-2, a major feature alongside the Coliseum and the Creature Creator was the Fiend Tales. Capturing fiends allows Shinra to analyse them and become friends with them, giving us a side to the fiends that we had never seen before. Each fiend has their own personality and desires, some of which will tell you how they died and even imply that they can become humans again if they find out how.

Levelling up fiends in your team will reveal more of their story and wants to you, and when you get far enough, you will unlock their Creature Ending. These are non-voice acted cutscenes that involve Shinra releasing the fiend, and having the fiend either getting their wish granted and resting in peace, or running off and adapting to their new lifestyle.

This is a guide to the summaries of the fiends' stories and endings. I will update it over time.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

SALLET

Analysis:

A former monk of Yevon from the time of Lady Yocun. Cause of death is unknown. Despite his old age, he swears to be Yuna's guardian and to stay by her side until they reach Zanarkand. He still thinks that Sin and Yevon's teachings are around and that machina are forbidden; mistaking the Celsius for a boat being attacked by Sin's storms. When he is told that the Celsius is powered by machines, that the Calm is eternal, and that Yuna is a sphere hunter, he gets angry and denies it. He demands that they go to Zanarkand and meet with Yunalesca who, unbeknownst to him, isn't around anymore.

Ending:

Arriving in Zanarkand, Sallet sees that the ruins have been turned into a tourist attraction, and are also a breeding ground for monkeys. Realising that Yunalesca no longer resides in Spira and that he doesn't belong, he takes one last look at Zanarkand's night sky and accepts Spira's new age. Dissolving into pyreflies, he leaves Spira in Yuna's hands.

BICOCETTE

Analysis:

A Bicocette that claims to have the ability to use Doom. Cause of death is unknown, though he claims to have 'messed up'. He claims to once have been a petty thief that made a pact with the Angel of Death. Death gave him his powers and told Bicocette to reap human souls for him. Upon his death, his partners sealed his powers, but didn't send him to the Farplane. Eventually the seal breaks, and he goes out to hunt down his former friends.

Ending:

Bicocette returns to his hideout with his regained power. He plans to use Doom on his partners. However, he starts to regret it when things get out of hand. Death tortures and kills his friends, and Bicocette runs away, saying that he only wanted to scare them and make them apologise for making fun of him. He fears what his friends would think of him when they reunite in the Farplane. Death appears before him and says that he will never reach the Farplane anyway, and attacks him. The screen fades to white, ending with Death saying that he craves the souls of fiends that have sunk to the lowest depths.

BARBUTA

Analysis:

N/A (Creature lives to fight.)

Ending:

N/A

ARMET

Analysis:

A female sailor who used to be married. Cause of death: Sin's attack on Kilika. She says she is happy to be a fiend, because her human life was so difficult. Recently, she had regained her memories of her human life, saying that she probably forgot it because she didn't want to remember. She says that there is a cave where fiends work together to build new lives. She is reminded of the 'battles' she had when she was married. She was wooed by her husband to move to Kilika from Besaid. Her husband was a good man, but was submissive to his mother. Armet's mother-in-law and sister-in-law abused her when her husband wasn't around, which resulted in her fighting back. When she died to Sin, her and her mother-in-law still argued back then. She concludes by saying she was grateful for making those memories, and that she should get back to the cave.

Ending:

Armet returns to the cave, meeting up with a Bully Cap. The Bully Cap suspiciously says to Armet that she came back early. Bully Cap then proceeds to reveal that she had also regained her memories. Armet figures out that the Bully Cap is indeed her mother-in-law. MIL jokes that their fates have conjoined. Armet's sister-in-law, a Thunder Flan, drops in, telling Armet to hurry up and make dinner. Armet gets dizzy from the realization that she is stuck with her abusers again. SIL asks if dinner is ready. SIL complains that Armet made so little in so much time. MIL tells Armet to do the cleaning and laundry, who then collapses and weeps, her morsel of food still in front of her. MIL and SIL eat their food, only to freak out over its spiciness. Armet is seen laughing behind a wall. The screen fades to black, saying that it's the start of Round 2.

(Fun fact: The food model that Armet gives to MIL and SIL is the same model for the tray of food that Rikku gives to Tidus on the Salvage Ship in FFX.)

BASCINET

Analysis:

An admirer of the Gullwings. Cause of death is unknown. She says that she found out about the trap pods in Gagazet from a friend, so she purposefully got caught in one of them to join the Gullwings. She says it's because she admired a specific person in the Gullwings, which turns out to be Brother from her (amusing) description. She says that she first saw Brother when he jumped ship to save Yuna in the Gagazet ruins. Brother's affection for Yuna touched Bascinet in a way. She reveals that she's been practising her body language to be just like Brother, and that she thinks that she and Brother have come to a deeper understanding. She wants to become Brother's best student, and goes to tell him how she feels.

Ending:

Bascinet meets with Brother at Bikanel's oasis, and plans to ask him to become his number one apprentice. She hopes that her body language is good enough. Bascinet tries to communicate with Brother through body language: 'LET-ME-BE-YOUR-APPRENTICE.' Brother, not being the smartest person in the world, misinterprets her gestures as 'WHAT-IS-YOUR-NAME'. He plays along, saying 'MY-NAME-IS-BROTHER.' Bascinet also misinterprets his gestures, thinking it's 'THE-PATH-WILL-BE-DIFFICULT.' She responds with 'NO-THANK-YOU.' Brother thinks she said 'WILL-YOU-MARRY-ME'. It sends Brother on a frenzy, which Bascinet interprets as 'TOO-SOON.'  Thinking it's him rejecting her request to be his apprentice, she is disappointed. Brother, in relation to her not-quite-proposal, quietly says to himself that it's from a friend. Bascinet hears this, misinterpreting it as her second chance.

HEAVY SALLET

Analysis:

Cause of death is unknown. She talks in vague sentences, saying that it's too cramped, and that she won't do well with the 'neighbours'. She is hesitating to say hi to them. She then thinks she's too sensitive, and that she'll never make friends. She says that she met someone in Kilika, and that she asked him to come and hang out. The man didn't seem sure, so she said that he could bring his friends. His friends agree and she is delighted, but says to keep it a secret. She then says that it was fun at first, and that they got along, but then they kept refusing to go home. She then thinks that she sees 'smaller ones'. She is afraid that the Gullwings will fire her for this. Later, the smaller ones have multiplied so much that the room is about to burst. She panics about what to do, when she notices some of them leaving.

Ending:

Heavy Sallet goes to confront the Gullwings, who then spills her dilemma to them. She apologises. Rikku, who has a monkey on her head, is looking irritated at Heavy Sallet. It is revealed that the 'smaller ones' are the Zanarkand monkeys, which have invaded the entire cabin. HS apologises again, and says that she'll gather them up and leave. Afterwards, Shinra is seen cradling one of the monkeys in his arms, saying that it's his.

DIVEBEAK

Analysis:

Cause of death is unknown. He acts as a delivery service exclusive to fiends. He hates humans, and says that they and fiends will never get along. He gets an order from an Iron Giant to deliver a huge pillow to an ochu on the Mushroom Rock Road. He drops it, but a 'fat chocobo rancher' helped him out.  He says that he's quite helpful for a human, and hope that the chocobos don't eat him. He gets a special delivery: deliver a datachip to a machina in Bikanel. He mentions how times have changed because he is working for a machine, and that it was on the verge of breaking down. When he delivered the chip, he was shocked to see that the Al Bhed girl he gave the package to was worried for the machina like it was her child. He gets a delivery from a coeurl in Djose to deliver a gift to his grandson in, but Divebeak doesn't want to do it since his grandson is a human. The coeurl started crying, and Divebeak gave in. When he delivered the gift, the grandson started crying too. Divebeak can't bear crybabies, and says that this is the first and last time he ever deals with humans.

Ending:

Divebeak says that the next delivery is a little special. This time, it's a request from the coeurl's grandson. He found Divebeak's records, and begged him until he accepted the job. He says that the grandson has a friend who's very sick, and was asked to deliver medicine to him. Divebeak must go through the Thunder Plains. He complains about the weather, and is almost struck by lightning. He says his wings are getting heavy. Meanwhile, an Ahriman tells his boss, a Humbaba, that he spotted the one who 'works for humans'. Humbaba blocks Divebeak's path. Divebeak tells him to get out of his way. Humbaba tries to shame his working for humans, and starts to attack Divebeak. Divebeak evades, and tells Humababa that this is an important delivery to him, but he still chases after him. Eventually, Divebeak is getting affected by the weather, but still presses on. He gets to the Thunder Plains inn, and drops off the medicine. Making it in time, Divebeak collapses and dissolves into pyreflies, saying that jobs like this aren't so bad. Fading to black, it's said that the boy recovered, and keeps a feather that he found outside the inn with him at all times.

PEREGRINE

Analysis:

Cause of death: fiend attack. He tells Shinra to stop peering into his soul to figure him out; he has nothing to say. He asks why he won't be left alone, and just wants to be left unnoticed until he's released. He says that he always look out the window from his small room in a temple, with no friends and family. He wonders if anything would change if he vanishes. After supposedly being orphaned by Sin, he was raised in Kilika Temple. He thinks that his parents being killed by Sin was a lie, countering with why he would be the only one alive and left all alone. The monks told him that many others were orphaned, and told Peregrine to be strong for Spira's future and hope. He says that he didn't want to live in a sad world. One night, he made a bet and fled the temple, not caring that the woods were dangerous. He felt that if he couldn't get through the forest, he wouldn't be strong enough to go on. When a fiend attacked him, he said that that was the one time he wanted to live.

Ending:

At night, Peregrine and Shinra are on the deck of the Celsius. He mentions how he lost his life to the fiends, and wondered if he would go to the Farplane alone, and cried. He mentions that he was only ten years old: not a grown-up, but not a baby, either. He still had many things he wanted to do. He regrets having made the bet on his life. He says that he couldn't stop crying, and that his tears turned into pyreflies. Eventually, the tears and pyreflies stopped, and he turned into a Peregrine: a fiend with giant wings. He says that under this sky, he still has many worlds to see, and that with his wings, he is truly free. He concludes with saying that he'll continue his tale as a fiend, because he loves the sky and it makes him want to go on living. Peregrine flies off, saying that he'll see Shinra again in the sky. The screen fades, saying that the boy spread his wings and became a bird.

(Fun fact: You can see Brother dancing in the spotlights in the background.)

158
Yup.

Yuna says 'Arigatou', which means 'Thank you'.

Saying 'I love you' directly is actually offensive in Japanese culture. It's why it was changed in the English version.

159

It is true, in dissidia, i didnt like his skin color because his default skin color is tan, he looks pale in other appareances. If they do X-3, i dont want him to be pale, i want him to be tan, it suits him better :-)

I hope so, too. I actually like the insane tan on him. It suits his character and Okinawan background. They might as well give him Jecht's skin if they're gonna go with him having a headband.

I consider the FMV versions to be their 'canon' appearances if you know what I'm saying. Cause it doesn't have as many technical restrictions as the in-game ones, and I think the Asian influences on everybody makes them kinda unique and stand out. It's amazing how inconsistent Tidus' in-game and FMV form is, though. The other characters had at least some accuracy to them.

160
Off topic, but I still can't get over how coloured Tidus' skin is in the FMVs, and how jarring it is compared to all the other times. Obviously, it wouldn't bother me if it was like that all the time, but his in-game model and all the Dissidia reincarnations after that are very pale in comparison. Heck, he's actually less tanned in X-2's Good Ending. I know it's something having to do with the in-game models and the FMV appearances being made by different teams, and that the FMV appearance is based off Nomura's original Tidus drawing in which he has a bit of a tan on him.

Is this funny to anyone else or is it just me?

FFX-3 Speculation and Developments / Re: Things you want to see in X-3?
« on: January 30, 2014, 09:59:41 am »
I know a lot of people are gonna disagree with me, but I think it'd be pretty awesome if Tidus became a villain at some point.

Come on, it's totally plausible at this point for him to snap and go insane because of all these events, especially if Yuna ends up sacrificing herself after all they went through. And boy, if he figures out that he's this close to vanishing again... Dude would probably get depressed and go on a murderous rampage, or hijack an airship fleet and try to nuke everything. That or he'd probably commit seppuku when he finally realises that he can't ever be happy, and that he just doesn't belong in Spira. Since he's dead, he'd pretty much be Shuyin V2.0. Only he actually does stuff.

Considering the dismal tone of the evident X-3, I won't be surprised if they actually do this. It'd give him a hell of a lot more character development, though. The only thing that would be tricky is actually pulling it off without making it too ridiculous.

FFX-3 Speculation and Developments / Re: Instead of Final Fantasy X-3....
« on: January 29, 2014, 02:52:51 pm »
I agree with city. I want a spinoff set in the world of the Farplane during X-2, featuring all our favourite dead heroes. It has a lot of potential, I feel.

Also, I recall hearing in one of X-2's Fiend Tales that there was the possibility of a Fiend World existing. Basically it was a world located between Spira and the Farplane that got its connection from Spira severed many years ago. Now that's potential right there alongside the Farplane idea. Instead of one world map, why not two? I'm sure the PS4 can handle that somehow.

FFX General / Re: FFX/FFX-2 Fanfiction Thread
« on: January 28, 2014, 10:53:46 am »
I've heard of On Your Shore. I've read one that's pretty similar called Proverbial Revitalisation. It's great. The only gripe I have with that though is that it's a bit too mean-spirited with Tidus' narrative. It's a pretty big cliche in AUs to have him be Dona's ex and then beating himself up over the thought of ever being with her, that or Dona coming onto him and him shooting her down. It's a bit overplayed here, though.

I read Alpha Redux. Loved it, except I'm not a huge fan of 'misunderstanding' conflicts. They just feel a little forced to me. Also, same as Proverbial Revitalisation; Tidus' narrative is a bit too aggressive towards his thoughts.

Fumbling Towards Ecstasy? Isn't that the one where Tidus and Yuna secretly get... uh, yeah. I usually can't be bothered to read 100,000+ word fanfictions unless they're really interesting. I know it's a critically acclaimed fanfic, though. It's just not my cup of tea, these kind of things. :P

I think one of the hardest things to get right in FFX fanfiction is Tidus' character. He's, in general, a very tricky and diverse character to write. In normal universes, he's usually depicted as a cheerful, often times soft guy. But in AUs, particularly highschool ones, he's usually depicted as an unlikeable **** bully who sticks it in everything he sees. I think that's why AUs in this category are either praised, or slammed. I don't know if it's because Tidus is a generally disliked character among the fanbase, or because of his wide personality range, but it does throw a lot of people off.

Haha, I'm writing a bit of FFX fanfiction myself. You may know me as the writer of A Soothing, Starry Night and the dormant Leading Rivalry. I don't know what to do with LR any more and I can't even bear to look at ASSN these days. (Probably because it was a somewhat-dare by a DeviantART friend XD) I'm writing an AU called With Skies, Like A Future which is basically gonna be a fantasy-adventure AU starring our favourite couple. I'm pretty proud of it so far, and I actually know where to take the story this time unlike LR.

Also, my favourite fanfiction... ehh, I'm not so sure.

But the closest to a heartfelt favourite would be this semi-AU X-2 sequel (Unfinished, of course. Darn it.) by a German author called The Return, the Responsible and the new War (M RATED): https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5086609/1/The-Return-the-Responsible-and-the-new-War

It has, hands down, my favourite AU version of Tidus by far. I can't go into detail about it cause it's ridden with spoilers, but yeah. If you read it, he's pretty badass and also in-character at the same time. Also, this is the fanfiction that sparked my love for Yu Yevon's potential as a character. It has some pretty good ideas, one of which influenced my idea of a conflict in one of my fanfictions.

164
What Pyreflies said: I, and most others, do not mind the aspect of Tidus and Yuna getting it on at one point in canon. It's just how they initiated it that's bothering people on this board. Heck, remember when people were still talking about their kissing session at Macalania? There were rumours and implications that they did 'more' than just kissing. I think that they just put the fact that Kimahri was watching there just to balance out the two sides. 1: They had sex. 2: They just kissed.  It's like that scene in FFVII where it was heavily implied that Cloud and Tifa had sex under the Highwind. Ambiguous moments like that are what get fans like us rolling.

But with the boat sex thing, it's probably the most OOC moment we've seen of Tidus this far in the novel. Remember: Tidus ALWAYS tried to protect Yuna from harm in some way. Sin attacking the S.S. Liki: First thing Tidus did was grab Yuna's hand. Moonflow: Tidus dove in immediately after Yuna. Wedding: Angry Tidus is freakin' angry. Etc., etc., etc.. Even in the Spring scene, he still seemed pretty protective of her while they were floating through the currents, what with the hand movements and all. Like I said earlier: If Tidus is supposed to be the far superior one out of the two in regards to boat/sea knowledge, the opposing person being his soul mate no less, then why didn't he moor the ship to somewhere in an ocean where there are frequent goddamn storms!? Tropical oceans are the most likely to have storms away from the shore! It's basic geography! I have to wonder, is Nojima trying to make Tidus as shallow and infuriating as possible? This is the guy who literally gave up his life to save his girl, and now he disregards their safety to tap Yunie's patootie. I know it's small when you compare it to everything else -coughblitzbombcough-, but it's still really annoying.

Of course, we all would expect a bit of realism, even in a Final Fantasy game. Mild realism, as displayed in this game, is the emotions of the characters and the common sense that they may or may not follow. Fantasy is a different world with often different laws, customs and species. It's not something in which you can make up any old rule to get out of something, or appear extremely bizarre for the sake of awe or wonder. It's partially why it's called Final Fantasy: Each game or 'entry' has a different world with different natures, as well as different threats and people. If FFX was REALLY realistic, Yuna would probably be really depressed, Tidus would end up in a mental hospital at some point, Kimahri would be walking on four legs, and the gang probably wouldn't last very long against fiends, which are basically mutated dead people, AKA zombies. For all we know, Tidus and Yuna getting along as soon as they are reunited could be considered normal in Spira's universe. If Wakka and Lulu could do it, why not Tidus and Yuna? XD

And Tresdias, in regards to the 'Bahamut created Tidus' thing, sorry for confusing you. We see throughout X that Bahamut very likely had a connection with him that was more special than any of the other fayth. In Dream Zanarkand, only Tidus could see him. The rest of the game, only Tidus and Yuna (and Auron) are 'allowed' to see his fayth form. (Of course, other summoners could as well, but Tidus was the only non-summoner that could at that point. Maybe the others could see Bahamut, but they didn't really address it.) He was the one who explained his and Dream Zanarkand's origins, and in X-2, you can ask him to bring Tidus back/initiate the Good Ending. Since the fayth are maintaining Dream Zanarkand, it could be possible that Tidus came from the portion of Bahamut's dreaming. The other fayth do have their own forms, which you can see when you revisit the temples after leaving Zanarkand. It's just Bahamut's fayth that appears to them for some reason.

But with X-2 and the whole 'Shuyin' thing... well, it is possible that Bahamut knew Shuyin and admired him. He and Lenne were popular icons in Zanarkand back then. Tidus is pretty much an imperfect copy of Shuyin's body with his own thoughts and memories.

165
Ah, you make a valid point actually. Yeah, I guess your long-lost lover suddenly reappearing into your life would make for a bit of a clumsy start, I guess. XD But still, this is Tidus and Yuna, after all. There was hardly any real 'awkwardness' between them on the pilgrimage, except maybe at Macalania. (But we all know where that went. ;)) They had playful banter and it was pretty obvious that they had crushes on each other. They're pretty much a 'love at first sight' couple done right.

But still, in the context of the '2 days later' timeline, isn't that weird? You'd think Tidus and Yuna would have time to settle down on Besaid together; you know, get Tidus acquainted and caught up with his old friends and all. Instead, they just pass off some boat to them and tell them to go out to sea. I'd buy it better if they went back on the Celsius instead. (Come on, Tidus being a sphere hunter isn't that far of a stretch.) Don't they have weather vanes on Besaid or something? That's pretty reckless of those Aurochs, IMO.

The whole 'memory erase' is a pretty big cop-out, though. So we're just left to assume that Yuna screwed up the balance of the world and her lover's plane of existence, only to forget it and go on living a normal life and go poppycock around Iutycyr? But assuming this actually took place a half-year after X-2, why would the loss of her memories of the incident cause her personality to revert back into her X self? Better yet, why would she even maintain that? You'd think Yuna would be trying to find a way to save Tidus by herself instead of going back to square one and praying to the lifeless fayth statues. Okay, yeah, the fayth are on her side, only Tidus and Yuna can see Bahamut's fayth, yadda yadda. So... why can't Yuna just go find Bahamut in person? Did the huge holes that Shuyin leave behind just suddenly close up upon his defeat? I mean, Bahamut created Tidus, so he must know the most about his nature, even if he is a part-human, part-aeon, part-dream, part-unsent, part-zombie, part-fish thing.

Ugh... this whole thing just feels bizarre and not what we'd expect. Then again, nobody expected X-2 to turn out the way it did back when it was announced. I seriously thought that the audio drama would be a happy-go-lucky, happily-ever-after epilogue for our favourite couple. But it is Square Enix, seeker of sequels, so maybe I should have known better.
