FFX-3 Speculation and Developments / it's been a while
« on: August 01, 2017, 08:57:13 pm »
hey everyone
i had forgotten about this site until i got the ffx itch this summer and it led me back through the novella and audio drama
even though it's been a while i am still excited at the possibility for an ffx-3
experiencing everything again about the story made me remember the fun and buzz here when things first started coming out
and the work, too
chercheur and crystal did great work all for their love of the games which i feel wasn't appreciated as much as it deserved in hindsight

but i wanted to put it out there that i still am hoping for an ffx-3
if anybody else out there is too, you're not alone
this place is quiet but there's still passion here from me
and from what i remember i'm sure a few people here outclass me in that  :-*

i may be talking to a dead forum
but i wanted people to know there's still a want for it
and you can still find it here
here's hoping to some news in the future ~*`

FFX General / What's your favourite track from the game?
« on: March 31, 2014, 08:51:55 pm »
It's hard to pick favourites from a classic OST like this, but mine would probably be Movement in Green.

Although I really do enjoy Servants of the Mountain and The Thunder Plains, too.
and Assault.
and A Contest of Aeons.
and Challenge.
and Seymour Omnis's theme.

oh forget it
this question is pointless, it'll never end.

These translations have not been done by me. == CHAPTER ONE (unfinished)== (Pixel and Aristoteles)

Here's my translation, based on what Pixel had already done. I still need to fix some (or most) of the sentences, but I think the story is much more clear now.

Tidus was surrounded by darkness. He held his knees as he drifted off. Suddenly, an image appeared at the back of his mind. What caught his eye wasn’t clear. From the start, he was uncertain whether it was a scene from his memory.

A man with long hair hanging down his broad back, snuggling with a beautiful, slender woman. They were his parents, now already gone. One day his father disappeared, and his mother died of overwhelming with loneliness. The pain he felt in his heart that day, knowing that he couldn't console his mother, was revived.

The next moment, Tidus was in a huge crowd. He responded to the lovely voices with a proud smile. How could he heal the emotional scars? It seemed to be able to heal the emotional scars. He thought it was strange, but as he surrendered his body to the comfort, that doubt melted away.

An enormous monster attacked his city, Zanarkand. He thought it was strange that he was confused and running away, scared.

(Okay. I just came here to call you, that’s all)

Before long, Tidus was swimming in the sea of Spira, and arrived on land. He was bewildered at how completely different this world was to home. The kindness of the people, the gentle touch, he regained his smile somehow. He made friends, and decided to journey with them. He brandished a sword, and fought against fiends.

Then he realised, he was in love. On the day that they confirmed their feelings for eachother, they realised it was a love that could never be. He resisted, because he didn't want to accept their fate, it was unbearable.

I saw a sea of clouds. It’s a memory of the day I left Spira.

He was on his back. The deck of the airship, I summed up the courage, ran, and leapt.

My heart ached like it had been torn out.

That sound, I shook my head.

(Yuna, I’m back!)

His vision became clear. The darkness that blurred the boundaries became clear. There was an actual feeling, separate from the chaos draped in darkness

(Let’s go!)

He got fired up, and kicked in the darkness. His body got a little closer to Yuna's world.

He felt the boundary approaching overhead. The boundary between "here" and "there". He could see a flickering wall of light, it was a symbol of the gorgeous world. Up to the top. He was swimming more triumphantly than ever.

(So bright...)

Breaking through the wall, it was a world of blue and white. He winced as he felt the thick air passing through his nose to his lungs. He had completely forgotten the excitement brought by his sense of smell.

Spread out in front of him was the ocean. As he thought about the vastness, he felt something huge wriggling under his feet. The darkness was alive. It hadn't crossed until just then. If he wasn't careful, he could be pulled back.

(Let’s go. I’ve come back)

As he looked around, there was Besaid Island. Just like when he saw it for the first time, at the centre was a hill that rose up, like a green triangle. Surrounded by a sandy beach, washed by waves.

He whistled with his fingers toward the empty beach.

There was no answer, but his heart felt at ease. The information gathered from all five senses was entirely real. Even if there was no reply, from his experience, it was a feeling of comfort.

He swam in the shallows, facing toward the beach. Who would be first he saw.

(Yuna... Where is she?)

Just then, a deafening roar filled the sky.

A brightly painted, purple airship approached from the sky. He unintentionally ran away. As the airship circled overhead, the hatch at the bottom opened.

Yuna couldn't wait any longer, and leapt out from the inside.

She used the hatch like a slide, and quickly leapt to the surface of the water. Her cheerful attire was a surprise. It was the first time he saw it. For just a moment, he thought that she was different from the Yuna he knew. But, as she ran, the joy in her eyes that he knew erased that niggling feeling. That moment, the joy overtook Tidus' heart, ........
Foot reached part not

"...Are you real?"

After hesitating, Yuna prepared herself, and asked.

"I think so."

I wanted to give her an answer. Yuna slowly separated from my body, and looked for the right answer. Well, she was probably looking for something wrong.

"Do I pass?"

"Uh huh... You're back."

I was relieved.

"I am back."

As I said that, I drew closer and hugged Yuna. Well, she clung to me. If Yuna had rejected me, I don’t know how I would have turned out – I was really worried for a second.

"I'm home."

I repeated it a few times in her ear. Before long, Yuna's hand was around my waist, and she responded with “Welcome home”.

「おーい!」 と、遠い声がした。「どっか他でやれ!」
"Hey!" It was a distant voice "Get a room, you two!"

When I looked, the small cove was full of people. Wakka, Lulu, and many of the villagers.

“Who asked you to watch, Wakka!?”

Tidus took Yuna's hand and started running toward Wakka. From right now, I can enjoy only the fun things for my whole life. Thinking that excites me!

"You know, you've changed."

"Well, you've missed a few things."

The answer is pretentious. But, whatever the contents of her story, now I feel I can smile, take her hand and run with her to the end.

"I wanna hear everything!"

The people of the village had been waiting for Yuna, who had been away from the village for a while. Of course, Tidus was greeted by the few people he was familiar to. Datto, Letty, Botta, Jassu, Keepa... All of the good old Besaid Aurochs.

As we shared the joy of the reunion, Wakka proudly held out a baby in his arms.

"This is my child. Inami. Cute, ya?"

「うん! って、え? 誰が産んだんだよ」
"Yeah! Hey, what? Who gave birth?”

"I did."

A defiant voice answered from behind. When I looked back, the first thing that caught my eye was a full bosom. It was Lulu.

"Makes sense, he is beautiful."

Lulu laughed slightly, and took the baby from Wakka.

“Don’t want him exposed to sea air, huh?”

"He’s an islander. Anyway..."

Lulu: “I can’t say I’m looking forward to the tide starting.”

"Oh boy..."

Now now, Tidus laughed as he butted in.

「とにかく、おめでとう。てかさあ、結局そういうこと? やっぱりくっついた? 俺が思ったとおり!」
"Anyway, congrats. .......You finally got together? I knew it!"

"Yup. Honestly ……it gets difficult sometimes

"Hey hey!

「それで?」 ルールーはワッカを無視してティーダに訊いた。 「しばらくここにいるわけ?」
"So?"Lulu asked Tidus, ignoring Wakka. "Will you be here for a while?”

"…I'd like to, if I can."

He became a little uneasy.

"Oh, don't get me wrong. Of course, you are welcome..."

Lulu looked around. People had started to move along.

"Let's go to the village for now."

Wrapping the baby up in the blanket, covering his chin, Lulu joined the people heading to the village. Naturally, her child was her top priority. Even though he understood it, Tidus felt a tinge of loneliness.

"Yo, let's go.”

Wakka patted Tidus on the shoulder familiarly.

On the way to the village, the Aurochs talked to Tidus about being a substitute.

What happened to the team during their time together, was thanks to him. Gotto and Keepa had improved, which made him proud. New people had even moved to Besaid Island to join the team, because they were so impressed. It seemed it was the tournament that Tidus participated in that started it.

They arrived at the village in around half an hour.

"We should have a party this evening. The elders will organise it. You'll help, of course. Win them over. Make a good impression. If you want to take a rest, you can use that tent."

Lulu pointed to the largest tent in the village. It was the lodgings that belonged to the crusaders.

"What are the crusaders up to?

"They do whatever they want. It's that kind of era. Then, Yuna's room in the temple... The same place as before."

Wakka teased him as he carried the firewood for the party. Tidus felt his cheeks turning red.

"Wait." Lulu spat out coldly. "Don’t go there. Refrain from doing anything wrong. At least until Yuna introduces you to their elders. Also, regardless of the introduction, what everyone thinks of you depends on your conduct. After Yuna retired, After the temple lost its function Yuna has been the support of the retired [elders?] Don't forget that. Even Yuna herself can't live freely."

Lulu shrugged. The baby wriggled around in her arms.

"...Yuna isn't happy?"

"Don’t know. Ask Yuna”

"You know, because that story doesn’t represent Yuna”

As Tidus said it, Lulu had an expression like she was impressed.

“As far as I see it, 50/50. She felt responsible for what happened, but she was suffocating in this village. So she flew around all over with Rikku."

"She did what?"

"Sure, ask her for yourself. Anyway, don’t embarrass Yuna."

What do you fellas think of Last Mission?

For those of you who have played the English patch of the International game, or just watched the videos online, what are your thoughts on the story and general attitude of Last Mission?
and how do you think Yuna's attitude towards Tidus there ties into this new information we've discovered?

Last Mission: Part One, English subtitles

The rest, if you decide to watch, should be easily navigable from the related videos sidebar.

The two new characters, Chuami and Kurugum, introduced and focused on in the audio drama -Will-, are very good friends yet seemingly opposites.

Chuami is hotheaded, strong in her beliefs, and is rather brash and outspoken. She openly questions people of authority and respect, but also makes keen observations about unusual things. She narrates the audio drama.

Kurugum is respectful, obedient, and could even be described as meek. He quietly follows orders and makes it a priority of his to help others and hold high what he has been taught. He partners with Chuami throughout the audio drama.

Both are members of the Spirian Council, and both are seventeen years of age. However, Kurugum is a sender; while summoners formerly used to fulfill the dual role of summoning and sending, there are no more fayth, and so Kurugum settled for being a sender despite his wishes to summon.

What do you think of these characters? Do you like them? What about their relationship?
What affect and roles do you think these characters will have on the plot of a supposed FFX-3, if at all?

This is for series-wide canonical revelations depicted by the audio drama and/or novella.

UPDATE6: New information derived from fresh translations reveal the names of the new characters, and the general context of the story

Incomplete summary of events
Absconding on a trip together at Yuna's doing, Tidus and Yuna end up ship-wrecked on an ancient island where Tidus dies. Yuna is able to call him back from the Farplane after receiving help from a millennium-old unsent, but neither Tidus nor Yuna are not their old selves after this event; if Tidus realizes the way in which he was resurrected, he'll vanish, and Yuna's memories of her past life have been erased. The Farplane grows unstable afterwards, and soon the dead are being called back to Spira, including Sin.

A portion of the novella's narration is split into two alternating parts: GIRL'S SIDE, which details Tidus's and Yuna's events on the ancient island, and BOY'S SIDE, which tells the story of a female summoner and the sex-fayth method a thousand years ago. The two stories eventually merge at a point in the narrative.
Here's some new vocab you should know before you read so you won't be too confused:

Sex-fayth method - Way of creating fayth that involves establishing a mental bond with someone through sex and using that bond to create a Beast Core

Beast Core - Product of the person sacrificed through the sex-fayth method; provides the summoner the ability to use their imagination to create pyreforms based on the strength of the mental bond, instead of the preset aeons offered by the classically-created fayth

Beckoning - Act of calling the dead back from the Farplane through use of "wishing fervently" for their return

- Tidus is resurrected and welcomed back onto Besaid
a. Tidus finds himself distanced upon his realization of how Spira has changed from his departure without him
b. Yuna sails herself and Tidus out to sea sans Tidus's conscientiousness; he had been asleep on the boat
c. Tidus and Yuna have sexy time on the boat because Tidus feels concupiscence, causing the boat to wreck due to absence of a helmsman

- Yuna and Tidus become shipwrecked on an unknown island
a. Tidus and Yuna wander the island, trying to get their bearings straight and create a plan of action
b. Yuna, hesitant of her feelings towards Tidus, playfully yet consistently rejects his attempts at romance

- Death of Tidus on unknown island
a. Tidus gets hit by a bomb in the back of his head and mistakes it for a blitzball; he approaches the bomb, which detonates and blows his head off, causing Yuna to pass out
b. Tidus vanishes into pyreflies and his body is not to be found upon Yuna's awakening

- Story of the summoners Kushu and Ifarnal, and Kushu's guardian Briah at the ancient island during the Machina War
a. Kushu does not want to sacrifice Briah to create an aeon, and so has sex with Ifarnal to spare Briah's life
b. Kushu becomes the Beast Core for Ifarnal
c. Ifarnal turns unsent on island after he dies at 90-something
d. Ifarnal suffers through eternal life by losing the ones he loves to natural death; he had children as an unsent
e. He exists to current age, and supposedly remains on the island

- Origin of Al Bhed specified

Yuna encounters dead people and resurrects Tidus
a. Immediately after the death of Yuna, Ifarnal speaks to Yuna and details a few things for her:
     i. The revelation of the ancient island being a summoned sanction for summoners during the Machina War is revealed, as well as it's past existence as Besaid
ii. The explanation of the old way of summoning, and presumably the sex-fayth method
iii. The detailing of how reviving Tidus would entail both her loss of memory and his loss of knowledge on how he was revived; if either figure out, the process would be "undone"
iiii. The elucidation of beckoning as a way to invoke the dead back to walk amongst the living

Everybody encounters dead people and they all leave the island
a. After Tidus's resurrection, he encounters a summoned version of Kushu; she requests that he "give a woman sitting in a chair looking out of a window 'a little push' on the shoulder" (Kushu's real body located in the ruins of Besaid)
b. Ifarnal requests of Yuna that he kill the summoned version of Kushu
c. Whether or not these requests were carried out, Tidus leaves the island by method of transportation through his pyrefly-state and Yuna rides a boat provided by Ifarnal (?)

PAGE SCANS (two translated by site user KaminaSan and one by Pixel) IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER:

---     TRANSLATION     ---

T: "If the sunlight gets to be too much, we'll get all red, and it's over. We also don't have the Sphere (         ) so... it'd probably just end up badly (problematic)."

Y: "Yeah, that would be a disaster, let's find some shade."

T: "I'm trying to get to the shade... but someone ( ::))is being un-cooperative."

Y: "Hehe...
It's not bad though..."
Yuna said as she smiled and caressed her shoulders.

T: "It hurts..."
It hurts, cause I'm alive..."

T: "But we may as well confirm it with something that doesn't hurt!"
Tidus said while bringing his face closer.
Yuna pulled back without thinking.

Y: "Wait..."

T: "Come on... we were spared, let's at least share the joy."

Tidus moved his pouting lips closer.

Yuna pushed away his face while laughing.

Y: "Someone could be looking! Look, for example, that orange(?), it's just like Besaid!"

You could tell Tidus lost a bit of energy.

Looking around, they checked their surroundings again.

T: "You're right... it's like the Aurochs are gonna come running from over there," Tidus said while pointing toward the entrance to the road.

Tidus/Yuna: "But something is different... something that should be here... isn't".

---     TRANSLATION     ---

The two of them held a strategy meeting in the shade of a waterfall on the road. They tried to prioritize and fully grasp the whole situation.  They discussed what they would do if they met the inhabitants of this island.

T: "In any case, the first thing is to show that we mean no harm (hostility). In the case that the other party shows hostility, (can't see the kanji),  and they don't understand us, RUN! If we get split up, meet back up at the waterfall entrance.

T:Well... that's the plan anyways.

Y: Sure thing!

Tidus or Yuna (not sure who): "The stone statue kind of interests me, so if you find it, check it out!"

Y: "I mean... it's not like this place should be uninhabited, right? I hope they are nice."

T: "I know, right! Although... even if they were hostile, they would probably forfeit once they got a look at you"

Y: "Huh? Why?"

T: "Come on..."

Tidus pointed to her chest, her all black bathing suit was split into upper and lower parts.

T: "I ... get excited. I tried to get used to it, but... I still get fired up even with an accidental glance."

T: "And... I sometimes think of you... THAT way. But... I want you to forgive me. I mean, I told you the truth, so you gotta forgive me!"

---     TRANSLATION     ---

"T: ""You giggled."

Y: "Its a secret."

T: "Yunaaa!"

Tidus spoke in a pitiful voice. It was funny, and unbearably adorable.

T: "Ouch!"

When she looked, Tidus was holding the back of his head.

T: "Huh?"

Tidus looked around in surprise. Before his eyes, there was a ball, rolling slowly. It was the colour of tanned leather, about the same size they use in blitzball matches.

T: "A Blitzball!?"

Tidus started walking toward the ball, looking for it's owner.
After one step...

As Yuna watched the situation, she was surprised by the tears that suddenly started welling up. Her feelings were greatly shaken, and she couldn't stand. As she crouched on the ground, holding herself with both arms, she was overcome with unbearable sadness.
Just then, there was a huge sound. Yuna was blown back by a violent explosion, thrown, spinning through the air. Something flew in front of her eyes. It was Tidus' head, fixed in an expression of surprise.

Yuna lost consciousness.

Unsent: "Remember him.
His name... was Tidus, correct?"

An unknown voice called to Yuna.

General summary of events
Chuami (a hot-headed outspoken 17-year-old female of the newly formed Spirian Council, claiming to be Sir Auron's daughter) and Kurgum (a respectful yet meek similarly aged male sender, a specialist with the responsibility to send dead people to the Farplane (he wanted to be a summoner, but it's not possible since the fayth disappeared) who is Chuami's closest friend, and also a member of the Spiran Council) are being sent to Besaid by Baralai to search for Yuna. They meet Tidus at the Bevelle Stadium that is under construction. Tidus is a blitzball star but Chuami notices he's injured and has little energy, although he is trying to hide it. Reaching Besaid, Chuami and Kurgum meet Lulu and Wakka, who take them to Yuna. Yuna has returned to the mannerisms and dress style of her summoner days, and now refers to her sphere hunter days as a "bad dream". Kurgum shows Yuna a movie sphere with a recording of two shoopufs at the Moonflow. The shoopuf was the last of its kind after the female was killed by Sin thirty years ago, but it mysteriously reappeared one morning, causing Yuna to believe the shoopuf had been "called".

Kurgum tells Yuna she must accompany him and Chuami back to Bevelle and address the Spiran Council. When Yuna refuses, Chuami tells her about the injured Tidus compelling Yuna to take action. When Lulu hears Chuami mention being Auron's daughter, Lulu confronts her, saying that she doesn't look like him and that many people claim to be children of Auron, Jecht, and Braska. Chuami says she takes after her mother who wouldn't lie to her, but Lulu says Auron would have mentioned having children since he wasn't the type of person to hide such a thing.

As Chuami, Kurgum, Yuna and Wakka pass over the Moonflow on an airship, they see the shoopufs and a crowd of onlookers, where half of the people are illusions created by the pyreflies. They see a father and daughter with the illusion of the girl's mother who answers her request for them to go home together, which stuns the group, since the illusions normally can't hear or speak. Kurgum insists the illusions should be sent to the Farplane, but Yuna says they don't have the right to interfere with the reunion. Returning to Bevelle, they find Sin has been reactivated, possibly called by someone's wish, and Yuna rushes to meet with Tidus. Yuna had previously told Chuami that Tidus is her boyfriend, but when Chuami and Kurgum eavesdrop on the conversation between the two, it seems they are breaking up. Yuna is jealous of Tidus's friend, Marfi, but soon tells him she doesn't care anymore, and has already got another person she likes. Tidus asks who it is, but Yuna tells him it's someone he doesn't know and leaves.

Chuami and Kurgum part ways with the latter accompanying Yuna and Wakka, and the former returning to Besaid with Tidus. When Tidus asks Lulu about Yuna's new love interest, Lulu says she thought Tidus would know Yuna better and tells him to figure it out himself. She says that if something else can be brought back, then Sin's revival shouldn't be surprising. After Tidus figures out the meaning behind Lulu's words, they depart. On a ship with Lulu and Chuami, Tidus says he wants to follow Yuna and the others on her new journey, since he promised to be with her forever. Elsewhere, Yuna delivers a speech to a crowd in a stadium, proclaiming she will defeat Sin once more.
