Final Fantasy X-3 isn’t in the cards any time soon, says Yoshinori Kitase – Final Fantasy series producer in an interview with Famitsu this week. According to him the 2.5 novel and -Will- audio drama were not created with the intention of creating a third FFX title. (yeah, right)
The magazine reached out to collect several blanket statements from prominent developers on upcoming titles on the topic of rumors that have recently flooded the Internet, including others from Square Enix.

So glad to hear this. It would be so terrible imo, like forget it. I would LOVE to see X-3 get the movie treatment though! That would be fun, I guess. And harmless, since considering it canon could feel more like a choice for the fans, rather than forced onto them.

I saw that too, i was mad that they were deniying they weren't thinking of doing a X-3, because i know they were going to, but i don't know what to think, what are they planning to continue the new plot? Only SE knows...

I find it kind of adorable that SE thinks we're all dumb enough to believe that, but I don't blame them for making that statement. X-2 sold terribly worldwide for the HD Remaster, so it probably wouldn't be a great business move on their part to continue on with a third installment rofl

Exactly, and because the new plot sounds silly ( atleast for me) but, we all know they are planning something...

I'm not sure they're planning, necessarily. I'd say they are definitely hoping. I wouldn't put it above them to sacrifice quality and their own dignity for a couple extra $$$ - they've done it before (can this crap with Lightning end already?)
But like I said, I love the characters and wouldn't mind seeing a Final Fantasy X-3 movie. I wouldn't consider it canon at all, just a harmless, probably stupid, addition surely you jest

So it seems like this forum is kind of dying out, which is a bit of a shame. Ever since Square claimed that there won't be an X-3, and we pretty much lost all hope of ever translating this novel thing any time soon, things have slowly been getting stale. I honestly thought that they were going to address SOMETHING about X-2.5 and/or Will at E3 as their 'surprise' announcement, but nope. All we got is another spin-off VII mobile game.
I don't think Square's going to let this thing go at the same time, either. They actually save most of their big announcements for the Tokyo Game Show in the middle of September, since they're one of the big companies in charge over there and it's not as documented or commercialised as E3. Could be that they're saving XV and KH3 for TGS as well. Besides, we got the teaser trailer for Will at last year's TGS. Sure, Shinji said that they weren't planning an X-3 in the first place, but Nojima on the other hand said that he would like to see X-3 and even said that he had an idea of the plot if it ever entered development stages. So they have pretty mixed opinions on a second sequel.
Anyways, what should we do about this dormant forum? I really don't want this to go to waste, seeing as this is both an FFX fan forum and a collection of information about this whole X-3 controversy. My idea is having the URL of this forum advertised on multiple other websites such as Tumblr or such, to get more attention. I know the anger over Will/X-2.5 definitely isn't as heavy as it was 6 months ago, but hey, an FFX fan community? Sounds fun to me.

I don't think this forum can go to waste. I mean, it's a part of internet history now. Anyone who looks up FFX-3 will come across these discussions. It's an open forum and people will add what they want. None of the threads are closed or anything, so the discussion is still open.
Just like what Nojima and Shinji said. NOTHING was set in stone, it was all just discussion. Of course as a company SE wanted to see demand for an X-3, but the truth is, the fans just aren't happy with the direction they decided to go with it. There is a small minority that are curious to see where it could lead, but a large portion of the fan base are horrified. I don't blame them.

I'm more than happy to endorse this place as a Final Fantasy X fan forum. I don't know what I can do about the name, but I'll do my best if that's what you guys decide you want to do.
Please, do advertise it around if you wish.
It's really something I'd appreciate, actually. It'd be nice for this place not to rot, and we have some nice FFX enthusiasts here already.
After all, there's nothing said about FFX-3 not being a possibility. They just said at the moment it wasn't in development. Still hope, yeah?
